We first wrote about Gaëtan D'Arcy when he was going full tilt with his passion of creating murals from stone; this was in 2004. So, a couple of years later, what a pleasant surprise to see that the Stanstead native, who moved a couple of years ago to Magog, has matured tremendously as an artist and was on this year's Circuit des arts Memphrémagog. The art tour, heavily advertised in the Montreal media, brought thousands of visitors to the region.
We caught up with him, last Saturday, as he was explaining to visitors how he works to achieve the murals, either from his own inspiration or from orders from customers. He even has a small museum. There is an admission fee that seems to never be paid, put if only to see his incredible, granite Aztec calendar, it is worth giving a couple of dollars.
If you missed him during the art tour, he his located at 2160, Ayer'Cliff road. He also maintains a web site at: lesmosaiquesdarcy.com
